About

Alison Ross, LMFT is the founder of NDH Therapy in Agoura Hills, California, a certified eating disorder specialist, neurofeedback practitioner, and advocate for body-positive living. Her outpatient center offers psychotherapy, neurofeedback brainwave training, nutritional coaching, and group support to teens and adults struggling with disordered eating, eating disorders, mood, attention, and trauma-related disorders. Alison views disordered eating patterns as predictable responses to being exposed to a highly-rewarding food environment and diet culture pressure to control one's weight and appetite. When internalized, this conflict can lock people into reactionary mindsets about food and their bodies and disordered eating patterns. Alison helps clients shift from shame-based dieting mindsets into body respect, nutritional self-care, and resilience to diet culture and the food industries' traps. Alison is the author of Non-Dieting: How to Love Your Body and Be Healthy in Diet Culture.

The reflection of the moon breaks apart. For a moment, it may be impossible to see the world clearly. But here’s the important thing:...

And suddenly, those parts can feel like the whole picture. But here’s something worth noticing: you aren’t actually seeing yourself as a whole in that moment. You’re seeing yourself through a very narrow lens. When we look in the mirror and pick our...

When Weight-Loss Culture Gets Loud: Protecting Your Recovery
If you are recovering from an eating disorder or struggling with disordered eating and body image, you may be finding the current cultural conversation around weight-loss medications really, really hard. If you are, you’re not alone. The pressure to lose weight—and the idealization of weight loss—is intense right now. Appetite-suppressing medications are widely available, discussed on social media, advertised in our feeds, promoted online, and increasingly common in our social circles....
